Shelf Life & Storage

All of our special desserts, and baked goods are made fresh, in-house, to give you that unique, traditional, homemade flavours right in your own home. We don’t add any preservatives to our products so they aren’t really made to stay on your table for too long! Here are a few suggestions from our family to help keep our homemade products fresh as possible when you bring them home!

BREADS

  • ON THE COUNTER: Our tasty, soft, and delicious homemade bread can be kept for a good 3-4 days on the shelf in an airtight container, at room temperature (20͒-22͒ C) from the day it was made.
  • IN THE FREEZER: If you don’t think you can finish the homemade bread within 3-4 days, or if the room temperature is not within 20͒-22͒ C, you may freeze the bread for up to 3 weeks without compromising the taste too much, but they will begin to taste dull after 1 month.

EMPANADAS

  • These must go in the fridge, within 1-2 hours from purchase.

    • IN THE FRIDGE: Our tasty, homemade empanadas can last in the fridge for about 3-5 days before tasting dull or stale.
    • IN THE FREEZER: In the rare occasion that these savoury meat pies aren’t finished within 2 hours from purchase, you may place them in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
    • TO REHEAT: Preheat the oven to 350͒ F. Place the empanadas onto a baking tray and cover with foil. Bake them in the oven to an internal temperature of 165͒ F, and serve!

MAMON

MAMON

  • ON THE COUNTER: 1-2 days from purchase before they start tasting dull or stale.
  • IN THE FREEZER: Up to 1 month in the plastic wrap they are bought in.
  • TO THAW: You may thaw it out for 24 hours in the fridge before consuming. You may also choose to have it warm, and remove the mamon from its packaging, place it on a microwaveable plate, and microwave for a few seconds to reheat.

SANS RIVAL

If you aren’t able to indulge in this addicting traditional Filipino dessert, freeze it right away. If you want a bite, you may cut a small slice straight from frozen. Our family loves to eat it like this – straight away! However, you may also choose to thaw it out on the counter for about 5-10 minutes, and that will also be an enjoyable bite!

CUPCAKES

  • IN THE FRIDGE: These cupcakes can last from 5-7 days in the fridge from the day it was made. After this, it will begin to taste dull or stale.
  • IN THE FREEZER: These cakes can last for up to 2-3 weeks in the freezer. After this, it will begin to taste dull or stale. To freeze, place the cupcakes back in the container and in the fridge first for 24 hours. Wrap it with plastic wrap (or in an airtight container), ensuring there are no gaps and holes, and then transfer it to the freezer. To THAW, transfer the cake from the freezer to the fridge and let it thaw for 24 hours before consuming again.

COOKIES

  • ON THE COUNTER: 3-5 days from baking date before they start to taste dull, or stale.
  • IN THE FREEZER: In the rare occasion our cookies aren’t eaten within the next 2-3 days from purchase, place them in the freezer in an airtight bag or container, and thaw out the pieces you want to consu

EGG PIE

If these aren’t consumed right away, they can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days from purchase.

  • WHOLE PIES: keep these in a tightly sealed container. If possible, cover the open sliced area/s with parchment or plastic wrap.
  • SLICED PIES: these are really meant to be consumed right away, but they can also last a little while in the fridge in their purchase containers for 2-4.

MACARONS

These delicate almond-based meringue cookies must be kept in the fridge. These are meant to be consumed within 3 days from purchase before they begin to taste dull or stale. They can also be ordered ahead in case you needed them specifically for a special event!

CAKES

  • Our family makes a wide variety of cakes. Our custom cakes are mainly buttercream based, while almost all our cakes and cupcakes are made with specialty, homemade whipped frostings. The shelf life and storage of each kind varies based on the type of cake it is that you have purchased.
    • WHIPPED FROSTING CAKES: Once sliced, cover the open sliced areas completely with parchment paper. Place the cake back in the box and in the fridge.
      • IN THE FRIDGE: These cakes can last from 5-7 days in the fridge from the day it was made. After this, it will begin to taste dull or stale.
      • IN THE FREEZER: These cakes can last for 2-3 weeks or a little more in the freezer. After this, it will begin to taste dull or stale. To freeze, place in the fridge first for 24 hours, and then transfer it to the freezer. To THAW, transfer the cake from the freezer to the fridge and let it thaw for 24 hours before consuming again.
    • BUTTERCREAM CAKES: Once sliced, cover the open sliced areas completely with parchment paper. Place the cake back in the box and in the fridge.
      • IN THE FRIDGE: These cakes can last from 5-7 days in the fridge from the day it was made. After this, it will begin to taste dull or stale.
      • IN THE FREEZER: These cakes can be frozen for up to almost 3 months. After this, it will begin to taste dull or stale. To freeze, place in the fridge first for 24 hours. Wrap it with plastic wrap, ensuring there are no gaps and holes, and then transfer it to the freezer. To DEFROST, transfer the cake from the freezer to the fridge and let it thaw for 24 hours before consuming again.

BISCUITS

  • IN THE FRIDGE: 5-7 days in their original packaging.
  • IN THE FREEZER: 1-2 months in their original packaging and a heavy duty freezer bag.
  • TO REHEAT: Wrap the biscuits in a damp paper towel. Place on a microwaveable plate and microwave for 20-30 seconds. Add or reduce the microwaving time to your own liking.

PLEASE NOTE: The suggested dates and times are only suggestions. They are not guaranteed as each home and the travel/ sitting time between these steps also factor into how each product will keep in the suggested storage and handling! 

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: If freezing and later thawing, the state of the product will only be “as is” from the moment you choose to freeze it.
